One of the most important decisions parents make for their children is which school to send them to. Many happy families choose Bundoora Primary School above other schools because of the great community feel and the attention to learning and happiness. Throughout the year we hold many school tours in order for families to be able to, not only tour the classrooms and grounds, but receive a personal informative briefing of what our school has to offer. Please review our school tour dates and contact our office if you are interested in attending any of our tours.
Prep children must turn 5 years of age by the end of April in the year they begin school.
On the first day of school, preps are given an allocated time to commence school, with a 10 minute interval between each student arriving. This allows each student to be personally met at the door by their teacher and settled comfortably into the classroom. We host a morning tea for all prep parents/carers as they leave their children at school for the first time. Once children have been delivered to their classroom, all family members are welcome to attend this special morning tea which is held in our Staff and Community Room. We look forward to everyone attending.
During the first few weeks of Term 1, preps do not attend school on Wednesdays, but are at school full time Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Throughout the year, we conduct Prep Information Evenings, directed towards parents preparing to enrol their kinder aged children and also providing information regarding transition dates, school preparation, etc.
Several transition/orientation days are held towards the end of the year for preps who will commence the following year. This is to assist incoming prep students to familiarise themselves with their classroom and teachers. During this time we encourage parents/carers to meet in our staff and community room so that they can get to know each other and our Principal, Sherrin Strathairn. During these transition sessions, our uniform shop will be open for purchases.
Our teachers are skilled in focusing on the individual requirements of each child. Families can be assured that their child’s strengths and needs will be identified and supported. We hope that all parents/carers will regard their child’s teacher as a person in whom they can place confidence for advice and assistance.
You may wish to book a school tour with our Principal, Sherrin Strathairn. Our tours provide extensive information regarding our curriculum, specialist programs, and general classroom information, as well as giving you the opportunity to view the school and classes in action, and answer any queries you may have. Please contact our office to book into one of our school tours (dates TBA) or to arrange an appointment time for a school tour that is convenient to you.
Your child may also be interested in attending one of our Kindy sessions (Kindy Craft, Kindy Creatures, Kindy Science, Kindy Story Time, Kindy Sports, Kindy Music) held each term. Please see our Kindy Time page for more information.
