Specialist science program
All students from Prep to Year 6, engage with our specialist science program, aligned to the Victorian curriculum.
Our science program supports students to advance their scientific skills, knowledge of key science concepts and appreciation for science’s importance to our communities and lives.
Lessons are literacy-rich, hands-on, collaborative and enjoyable. Lessons include observations, investigations, experiments, discussions, reading and viewing varied texts; and showing understanding through diagrams, labels, descriptions, role-plays, models and other representations. Connections to other curriculum areas like Maths, Engineering and Visual Arts are authentically and meaningfully integrated.
Over time, students develop their scientific skills to question and predict; to plan and safely conduct investigations; to process and analyse their observations; and to evaluate and communicate their findings. Students also develop a solid foundation of knowledge in:
- Biological science
- Chemical science
- Earth and space science
- Physical science.
By learning and practicing science, students develop their curiosity and willingness to investigate the changing world they live in.
